Times are changing...

I felt like like compiling 70s tracks talking about changes, all sorts of changes, sentimental, cultural and social...

Past only become past when changes occur, individuals, people and nations must constantly evolve (and learn from their mistakes). The idea of progress, change, is actually what defines History and gives it a direction either good or bad.

Only dumbs and loosers never change their mind and opinions. Anyone should reconsider its lifestyle, opinions etc on a regular basis and embrace C.H.A.N.G.E.S.

Let´s resume this year with another multi-flavored 70s compilation. The title and the cover are a tribute to all the 70s designer that made the design of what is now called the "space age" period, were metacrylate, polyester, ABS, PP and many other plastics were about to replace natural components thanks to their ability to adapt in form to any designer wet dream. The period was in that field too a burst of creativity that I invite you to explore.

Despite the title this compilation is not a "space music" compilation, a 70s sub-genre that I find rather boring actually. The mix here is richer, from the usual musical horizons that this blog embraces, from disco, soul, lounge or boogaloo.

SPACE AGE MOTIONS

2 Roberto Delgado - Corcovado
3 Juliette Gréco Die - Gammlerin
4 Minako Yoshida - Rainbow Sea Line

6 Claudia Frente - Fria
7 Jackie Moore - Just to be with you
8 Tavares - Positive Forces
9 Horace Family - God Will Dry My Weeping Eyes
10 Frank Wilson - Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)
11 Kool & The Gang - Rated X
12 Louie Ramirez - Love It Up
13 J.Costanzo & G. Woo - Green Onions
14 The Har-You Percussion Group - Tico

ps: the picture shows one of the most amazing 70s house ever made, called a "bulle" (bubble) by 70s French genius architect Jean Maneval. These houses were comisioned in the early 70s by the French national oil company for a kids summer camp in the south of France. For sure they wanted to convert these kids to the new 70s materials and the new way of living as young as possible.. Maybe they played loud disco in these too?

Sounds of the 70s strongly recommends

Benitez and Nebula
double album cd : Night life / Essence of life
Vampisoul records

I recently discovered this latin rock/funk/soul project and bought the superb VAMPISOUL re-edition cd.
My advise : if you liked this blog and all the stuff in it, you sure will love this band

the dustygroove review (below) is right : TREMENDOUS albums !!!

2 tremendous 70s albums from Eddie Benitez -- both of them a great mix of jazz, funk, and Latin soul! Eddie's style here is totally great, and very unique -- a laidback approach to the groove that has echoes of the Chicano soul coming out of LA in the early 70s -- but which is often a lot more fluid, and with strongly jazzy overtones on guitar. Most numbers feature great organ or keyboards -- really setting up the flow of the record nicely -- and there's almost a Santana-inspired quality to some of the tracks -- but one that really goes back towards Latin music much more strongly, thanks to lots and lots of heavy congas and percussion! CD version features 19 tracks from both albums -- with titles that include "Nightlife", "Viejo", "We Are The One", "Hey Girl", "Dreams Can Come True", "Love's Way", "Waiting For Your Love", "Anyone", "Essence Of Life", "Latin Thing", "Hermano", and "Nueva Generacion".

This re-issue cd is from the highly respected VAMPISOUL label (spain), that has released a lot of amazing and remastered 70s material

so naturally i will not post it, but rather invite you to get the real cd sound and the superb cd-pack these guys released.

To give you feel of the album and convince you, here is one sample track : Eternal life

In this selection I tried to pack a condensate of 70s blends, as a rich coffee or champagne would do. These sounds should excite your senses (and your 70s nostalgia), at least for the time of the listening.

Nessa seleçao experimentei condensar uma mistura de som 70s, como no cafe o no champagne. Estes soms deveriam exitar seus sentidos (e sua nostalgia dos 70s), ao minimo para a duraçao do disco.

enjoy, leave comments

Post-scriptum 1: due to volume variations between tracks, i recommend the use of the sound levelling feature in itunes.

Post-scriptum 2 : this compilation will celebrate soon the 100.000th visitor...
Big thanks for your support to keep the 70s alive
