Hip hop is not really coming from the 70s but it owes a lot to the period given the extensive use of samples in most tracks. Although lousy samples are quickly boring, subtle samples can really give any 70s track the best refresh it could hope.
DJ Seiji from Japan does an amazing job in the "Crate diggaz" mix series, by mixing in sequence pairs made of an original 70s track and a hip hop track incorporating a loop of the previous one.
The whole mix flows very well and also works as a great blind test of all these superb 70s tracks geniously sampled. Terrific!
