I love to undig forgotten and overlooked gems as you noticed. But what I love more is when someone gives these tracks a second life. I posted a few edits but good ones, like the Tod Terje takes on Crusaders, Chaka Khan but nothing is better when they are edits of track I pesonnally undigged on my blog..

So guess my joy when http://soundcloud.com/libra-music came up to me last week with a splendid edit of a super rare and obscure track I discovered many years ago from Brazilian artist Claudia. The original track is one of my all time favorite from the 70s, great dynamic, orchestration and deep brazilian voice, the perfect funky mix to me. The edit is superbe, putting the right emphasize where it is needed but not too much, keeping the original track feel untouched but also adding some more beat and energy for today's needs.

Hi folks. Quick post, extract from this great 1976 RCA album by one of the greatest brazilian diva, Claudia, better known for here 1971 lp "Jesus Christo".

I picked a track that shows the very funky touch of this fabulous artist who always managed to get surrounded by edgy musicians.

Let´s resume this year with another multi-flavored 70s compilation. The title and the cover are a tribute to all the 70s designer that made the design of what is now called the "space age" period, were metacrylate, polyester, ABS, PP and many other plastics were about to replace natural components thanks to their ability to adapt in form to any designer wet dream. The period was in that field too a burst of creativity that I invite you to explore.

Despite the title this compilation is not a "space music" compilation, a 70s sub-genre that I find rather boring actually. The mix here is richer, from the usual musical horizons that this blog embraces, from disco, soul, lounge or boogaloo.

ps: the picture shows one of the most amazing 70s house ever made, called a "bulle" (bubble) by 70s French genius architect Jean Maneval. These houses were comisioned in the early 70s by the French national oil company for a kids summer camp in the south of France. For sure they wanted to convert these kids to the new 70s materials and the new way of living as young as possible.. Maybe they played loud disco in these too?

I think it is clear to everyone that 2009 will be a tough year. A great part of the 70s music was made in an economically depressed time after the october 1973 crisis. Well: music doesn't need big bucks to flourish we all know that (except the majors of course...)

Here is a good crisis pain killer, the usual good stuff delivered here at soundsofthe70s, rare and soulful, @320kbps.

This 1998 compilation is made in France by a small Djs label called SuperClasse, not remastered but well recorded. Tracks range from Bossa to Samba funk, all we love.

• that need remote shipping (=additional pollution + unemployment at home)
  

• that are over-wrapped with tones of plastic, cardboard etc..
  

• that are disposable for no good reason (do you need to go to f... ing Starbucks Coffee that invented un-ecological coffee?!..)
  

• that cannot be recycled (but that's not enough as recycling generates pollution too)

• that are made and sold by companies that show little concern with ecology (so many I know..)

=> big corporations will change their approach of doing business only when their sales will start to decline because people avoid their non-ecological products and ethics

Things haven't changed since the first 70's ecological leaders opened their mouth, it's urging that we citizens take full responsability
